Animal Hoarding Task Force

SH Sanctuary is currently working in collaboration with the Mayor's Office of Animal Welfare and the ASPCA to help establish an Animal Hoarding Task Force to minimize the number of animal hoarding cases in the NYC area.

02

TNR Program

Under our Director of TNR, Christine Galotti Noyes, we continue to work on our TNR program to assist feral cats in NY State and we hope to soon expand to counties outside of NYC.

Macro Work - Policy Change - VSW Laws

Under the current PLLC laws in NYS (and some other states) a Veterinary Hospital cannot legally hire a Social Worker.  We are working with a legal team and lobbyists in Albany in collaboration with the NYSSCSW and the NYSVMA to change the laws to provide for an exemption that would allow VSW to legally work in Veterinary hospitals and clinics in NYS.

04

Supportive Counseling

We provide ongoing supportive group counseling for Veterinary Professionals and  Animal Rescuers to prevent caretaker burnout and compassion fatigue. We also have a monthly peer group for Veterinary Social Workers.
